Without really thinking about too much, my suggested improvements are to install Hot Tubs. Inventory and repair or replace missing outdoor furniture and to relocate the slide pump switch on Houseboat 3 to a more accessible location.

Jim; Hi there, the boats did have hot tubs, IYC took them out because, when you cruise sometimes the water would splash out and water level was below jets and then when it was turned on the jet motors/pump would burn up. John G. said they were constantly replacing pumps. I certainly agree with the slide water switch boat #6 is the same, you have to lift the middle hatch to turn on the slide pump on.

I realize that boats had hot tubs on them and when they took them off, they said that they would be replaced with the soft sided because the draw water into the pump from the bottom. However, I have inquired about this for the last 2 seasons and was told each time that they just had to find time to put them on. Then, not to my suprise, the last newsletter came out and said they didn't have the money right now to put them on. Go figure

Oh OK. I didn't know they said they were replacing with soft sides. Well talking to John Guzman last day of our trip, he said. 1. they wanted to put the "stacks" on the boats which would filter the carbon monoxide and it shoots it out way at the top of the boat. Maybe you saw it on the rentals, we did notice that, and I asked about it. John said he was going to do it to owners boats. Then he also said they wanted to put water purification systems in so that the boats would use lake water instead or in addition to stored water. John was at the lake "entertaining some business bank friends" thats what he called it. They had 2 houseboats!

I am sure he is thinking of the liability on those rentals. Rental boat #8 has a problem with its CO detector. Mid Oct stayed on boat 6 parked next to it. We stayed in Dock and that thing chirped all weekend. We kept reseting it but it has a problem. I think Members should be allowed to use rentals for last minute trips if they are not rented out because the club could collect 195.00 per boat. Better than letting them sit. I say this because I think they are our boats anyways.

As far as the CO detector. They run on 12 volts. The battery that runs the 12 volt lighting also runs the CO detector. These batteries are neglected because they are up under the front. Chances are, that battery is not holding a charge and the low voltage will make the CO detector sound. We had this problem last Sept. on Boat 10. Everytime we shut the generator down, the CO detector would go off about 2 hours later. With the rental boats, I ask if we could get a discount on the rental and was told NO.

I have called about the hot tubs and they tell me that most of the members do not want them.I think we all should start calling in Jan about once a week about hot tubs.Maybe they will out them on just to stop the phone calls.Tell them you want them on the owner boats.

Have you read the latest message from IYC? It seems we must choose one of three options. I really don't understand why you would even want any TV on a houseboat trip.Course that's just me. No it,s our whole family. We have never watched TV . And we can bring our own radio I don't know how many of you have read the accounts of carbon monoxide deaths while houseboating but it,s scary!! Look it up on the web One mother and daughter right here at Cumberland a few years ago. AND they were seasoned houseboaters We usually turn the generator off if we're in the water or stay away from the back of the boat So I am campaigning for the safety feature of the dry stack scrubber. And I know many of you want hot tubs. They are very nice but not compared to a life. And when we bought our membership the hot tubs were included so why do we have to now vote on it as if it were an extra? Just another of our unanswered questions.....

Actually, when it rains, the Television can be very nice. Last year, I brought my own satellite dish and it kept the kids occupied when it rained. However, I don't think it's worth the money to put it on. As for the Hot Tubs, We were told when they took them off that they were being replaced with soft sided hot tubs. I was told on several occasions from John that they had the hot tubs and just needed time to put them on. Now all the sudden, we don't have the money. I don't know the real reasons we moved the boats from Norris and Dale Hollow, but I'm sure we paid for them to be moved. I think this management company has bitten off more than it can handle. As for the scrubbers, currently the exhaust from the generator comes out of the side. The houseboats where there was a big problem, the exhaust came out under the swim platform. If this was such a big safety problem, the management company should have either done this last year or planned for it and put some money aside. I personally voted for the Hot tubs even though I shouldn't have to. I don't think that the CO is as big of safety hazard as they want you to believe otherwise something would have been done about it sooner. Also, if I remember correctly, the 2 ladies that died in the lake actually died from electrocution.

I was told the hot tubs were already purchased too. I vote for hot tub you can turn off the generator to swim. Also if there were warning stickers to do so for reminders on the swim platform. TURN OFF GENERATOR WHILE SWIMMING. When you are at the lake in the spring and fall the hot tub would be nice. July and August you have the Worlds biggest hot tub THE LAKE Considering I cannot get a reservation 2006 when my kids are out of school I just really might enjoy that hot tub. As for the electrocution of the mother and daughter I heard the boat owner did not ground a wire properly and it charged the water. Anyone know how far that charge would travel?

Wonder when we'll find out about the results of the latest vote. I just don't trust them to go by the majority and not do what they want to do anyhow. I think at this point they know that enough of the members don't communicate with each other to make a difference.
