With all the complaints and unknown possible shady things going on with the management of this program it still is a good deal for us. The 5th year into our 14 year membership paid for its self. That is what we would have spent to rentals. I might do alot of bashing here but so far our needs have been met. 1 week on a houseboat with my family, all women and all family. We leave our men and kids at home for 1 week a year and go cut loose. That refuels us to go on with our sometimes hectic life for the rest of the year. So I might have some questions/concerns about alot of things that go on and say so here on this forum, but this program is still the answer to our prayers. But I certainly don't want to bite the hand that feeds me.

Ok, I have to ask. What do the men get to do to cut loose? I wish my wife had the confidence to take a houseboat out with the ladies. The program is a good deal but sometimes I have to question some of the actions of management. When we got into the program, they were no longer offering the 14 year program. I'm curious, is 1 week all you use or do you try to use bonus time.

Jim; The other 358 days a year are for them and the children!! Our "Captain" is my dads sister and she is 81 yrs young. She taught us how to houseboat 25 yrs ago. She claims we haven't got it right yet so she "makes us" come back every year!!! (ha ha) We have been to many different lakes and had many wonderful times. Lake C. just seems to be our favorite special lake. We have used bonus time 3 times with the kids, just weekends. We have been members 5 yrs. I too wonder about some of the management doings!! I will post my concerns in a different thread.

Buckeye
I think Denny talked about your group when we were getting ready to join. Do you all play golf on the upper deck and have a "prom" night too? If so, you are my kind of gals. lol
I have to agree that I have had great times on the boats too. But I want what I paid for which is a LUXURY houseboat for the whole 14 years, not two or three. I am afraid to see what the boats are going to look like when they are ready for sale at the end of our contract. I don't put the blame all on IYC completely. I think that there may be some members that do not treat the boats well, such as cleaning their messes or reporting problems.

Robin; Yes that has to be us, but we haven't hit golf balls off top for quite awhile. They used to just have bars on top of rentals no canvas, so its kinda hard to hit with all the canvas. Yes 5 yrs ago it was our 20th year anniversary party. We had been houseboating for 20 yrs so everyone had a formal gown and we had a huge party. I got my formal at the thrift store so I could jump in the lake with it on!! The balls were floating golf balls so we could pick them up in the fishing net.....(and they say we never caught anything)!!! Ha..
I have to agree with you. I can't believe the wear the boats get and how run down so quickly. The screen doors are always a mess, but we spray WD40 on them and makes them slide smooth!! Other little things broke or in poor repair. After every trip we send them a letter to just keep them up to date on what things need attention on that particular boat. They said they appreciated it. That is why I am concerned IF our boats are being rented out.
