Hi to all, I've been a little disappointed with such a few messsages on this site. I know we probably are all busy. . But it would sure be nice to continue discussions thru the fall and winter. I posted last on here on 9/25. Robin mentioned talking with other IYC owners at Dale Hollow. Do you know how to get in touch with them Robin? I ran across the name of a family that I spoke with in the dock at Conley a couple years ago and I've never talked with them again .They are Larry and Carolyn McCabe from Versailles, Ky. Does anybody know them? I also get on Lake Cumberland.com site and get to read a lot about the lake. They have a very active site. They don't have our type of problems [with management] but it's interesting Has anyone had any notification about the outcome of the recent vote? We haven't except for a casual conversation with John G on the dock at Lees Ford. Should we all email them and ask to be informed as to what the outcome was in the vote and what is the next plan being considered?? Should we all write them and ask for a list of owners that we were once told we would have?? I think we should be more agressive and ask about all the various siruations that are bothering us. Any body out there to answer?

Sunny: I agree with you on emailing and asking what the official outcome of the vote was. I think if we just let this go... sooner or later they could say "well folks, the vote is in and no more week long vacations!!" I think I will email them and ask! Thanks for getting us going here again Sunny!

Sunny
I am kicking myself for not getting email addresses for all those I have talked to.
As far as the recent vote or surveys, I never received anything from IYC once again.
But on a good note, I did get a week reserved in June.

Has anyone had any luck getting names of other members. I keep trying to put the word out but it's even harder in the Fall and Winter when I'm not down at the lake. I thought about posting a message on LakeCumberland.com asking anyone who is a member to U2U me.

This is the 3rd time I have typed this and then lost it for one reason or another. {Maybe because i'm niehter a typist or computer literate I rec'd a nice chatty email from Paula Guzman. She said she is retiring. She wrote that she didn't know anything about inverters but had passed my inquery on to the appropriate people [ which I assume means her husband] However she must know what they do because she said she and her family were tied up in a cove about 1/2 mile from Marina for a week and barely had enough gas to make it to the back so they must have kept generator running all the time . She gave me these 2 emails for future contacts. kristin@inlandyc.com and Berta@inlandyc.com. So I am passing that info on.
Jim I think an inquirey thru the lakecumberland website is an excellent idea.
Happy Hallowe'en

This is an inquirey as to what happened to some of the emails? Do you delete them after so long? I was looking for a note from someone named "Vetter" and I can't seem to find it I believe she or he was a member Do we only have 5 members?

I did not delete anything except for the double post I came across. That is interesting that Paula is retiring. I wonder if Kristen is somehow related. Thanks for passing on the info. At last check we have 8 members.

I too think the idea of posting on the Cumberland/Lee's Ford Marina site is an excellent idea. I would have never known about this site if I hadn't found this web site address on a note in the drawer of the boat. But you can count on me to give it to other members that I see at the marina next June.

hello, i am vedder98. (was someone looking for me?) we joined in 2003, and have been increasingly disappointed with the nearly100% raise in maintenance fees in just 2 years. also, we stare at the same cobwebs and dirt on the boats each time we go down. we have 2 small children, and i have to keep SHOES on them in the boats some of the time due to the amount of dirt and mildew i kept wiping off their feet in boat 1 last year. we have never been instructed as to how to DRIVE the boats, so we have never taken them out of the slip. on several occasions we had no television CABLE, and the times that we did, either the tv or the dvd player wouldn't work. we were promised that the hot tubs that had been removed (we don't know why), would be replaced with soft sided tubs for going on 3 years now. now there's a vote on it? apparently this year, we paid an exorbitant amount of money to some company to check us in and out. after 3 trips, we were checked OUT once, but never IN. basically we just feel that we have been taken advantage of. we are also actively looking for someone to buy our 8 remaining years. i cannot imagine how the people who paid some $14,000 up front are feeling about all these rate hikes. we're mad as hell, and we bought in at a bargain! (and i use that term loosely.) thanks for letting me vent. i feel a little better. maybe we'll be able to stick it out another year.

I know what you mean about the boats being filthy. We usually take friends on the trips with us and it has been embarrassing on more than one occassion. We were checked in this year on 2 trips but never checked out and never by the same person. From my understanding they can turn off the cable at the post so they don't have to pay for it. In Oct none of the boats were hooked up to cable. I feel satelite tv is a waste of money If I am going to the lake I am enjoying the lake I can watch tv at home. I would rather them decrease the maintanence fee and for go any improvements just spend the money on keeping what we have CLEAN. As for cobwebs you could clean those every hour and they will be back. But the carpets and inside the cabinets is awful.

I just looked over the "Budget and Costs" sheet. What a sad excuse for a financial report .... I,m not a bookkeeper but I recognize this as pathetic.... It looks as though there was slip rental for 10 boats. but I understand 5 of those 10 boats are used for rental [non members] so why do we have to pay the cost for those? The whole report is based on 10 boats. As some others have mentioned at different times - the "check in and check out" is a joke. That's $15000.00.. Add to that the the other $ 15000.00 for non existent cleaning I just saved them $30,000.00.
Just kidding about that but this management is really selling us short. If we don't have 10 boats available to members then we should not have to pay for maintenance of 10. I am complaining like every one else but I wish we knew what to do about it. Should we send a group letter signed by all the owners that we can find? Does anyone know if the limited partership we signed for has to be registered with the state? It was that kind of contract, wasn't it??

I am not making excuses for Yacht Management but I do believe that the slip fees are for Just the 5 boats. I understood that Lees Ford is one of the more expensive marinas on the lake. The boats are not cleaned very well, however when we take a boat out, we try to bring it back in better condition than we got it. I am also frustrated too that these dollars are being spent but we are not getting a good service in return. I bet the rental boats are cleaned a lot better. Otherwise, people wouldn't come back. Did anyone have a lawyer look over the contract before signing it. I would be interested to know what rights we actually have.

As for the cost of Lee's ford compared to other marina's. Here is my theory. A few years ago Lee's Ford was sold to its owner now. Apparently he rubbed a few elbows the wrong direction and a mass exit happened. So then he had to cut the slip rental fee to get boats back in the marina. I know for a fact he gave one slip renter 1and 1/2 years free rent to stay. Because if this particular renter left then 3-4 of his friends might leave too. So I am assuming John Guzman went to him and said what will you do for me if I put rentals at your marina and IYC members boats too. Anyone else see where I am going with this. I think a few complaints to the attorney general's office might get the books looked at but then you open up that can of worms and the club could go bye bye. So do you ride out the storm or jump ship when possible or tip the boat over? ??
